The phone-first wizard for looking up, creating, and booking parents in one flow.
The 4-step flow
The onboarding wizard is the primary way to create bookings. It replaces the old quick-book form with a single, guided flow: look up a parent by phone, create or select a parent and dog, book the stay, and share portal links via WhatsApp. You'll find it on the Bookings > New page.
Step 1: Phone lookup
Enter an Indian mobile number (10 digits, starting with 6–9). The system searches parents, their dogs, and any matching leads simultaneously. If a parent is found, you'll see their name, dogs, active booking count, and KYC verification status. If a lead matches, you can convert it directly into a parent record.
Step 2: Create or select
Based on the lookup results, you have three paths. 'New parent' creates a fresh parent and dog record from scratch. 'New dog' adds another dog to an existing parent. 'From lead' converts a matching lead — auto-filling the parent's name, dog details, and any check-in/check-out dates captured from the original inquiry. All three paths flow into the booking step.
Step 3: Book the stay
Select the dog, pick check-in and check-out dates, set the nightly rate (pre-filled from your facility's size-based pricing), and assign a kennel. If your facility requires KYC verification and the parent hasn't uploaded documents yet, the booking is created as 'pending approval' instead of 'confirmed'. It doesn't fail — it just needs the parent to verify their identity before the stay is confirmed.
Step 4: Share
The final step shows the booking confirmation with a status badge and booking number. From here you can share the parent portal link via WhatsApp (pre-composed message with the link), copy the portal URL, or share the intake form link if one was generated. Everything the parent needs to prepare for the stay is one tap away.
Converting leads during onboarding
When a phone lookup matches a lead from your inquiry form, you can convert it to a parent record directly within the wizard. If the lead captured check-in and check-out dates from the inquiry, those dates pre-fill the booking step — so the entire flow from inquiry to confirmed booking happens in under a minute. This replaces the standalone lead conversion dialog for most use cases.
